What It Means to Be a Woman?

Dear Diary,

Sometimes I just sit and wonder  what does it really mean to be a woman? Is it just the role that everyone expects me to play, or is there something more inside me that I get to decide?

Reading The Second Sex by Simone de Beauvoir really hit me hard. She said something that stuck with me  that women aren’t “second” because of who we are, but because society has made us feel that way. We’re often seen as the “Other,” like we’re just standing behind someone else’s story instead of writing our own. And honestly, that sucks.

Every part of being a woman  from growing up, to dating, to marriage, and even becoming a mom  feels like a constant fight to be respected and free. So many times, it feels like we’re expected to walk on a path someone else made, instead of choosing where we want to go. But you know what? We can break out of that. We can choose our own paths. We don’t have to be shadows anymore. Our freedom matters  not just for us, but for everyone.

I’m starting to think about who I want to be not what people expect, but who I truly want to become. And honestly, I’m proud to be a woman. Proud to want more. Proud to fight for happiness and freedom for me and every  woman out there.

To every girl reading this who’s feeling stuck or unheard: you are so much more than what others say you should be. You’re a whole person with dreams, feelings, power, and the right to be free and happy. Keep Sharing your smile.

Love
Phoenix
